Approach and Style
Realizing that unlike Conventional healthcare, Natural medicine is not a band-aid solution, a core principle of her practice which is based on Functional Medicine is to find the underlying cause of a disease through looking at the body’s physiology. This is done through comprehensive lab work and detailed questions. While, lab work are commonly performed at a regular physicians office, often the information obtained are considered within normal ranges. This is because laboratories use ranges based on sick and unhealthy individuals so a person is only notified when their results are in pathological ranges; meaning they have already developed a serious disease.
As a result they are dismissed with the implication that the symptoms are just in their head. This is like dealing with a catastrophe instead of picking up the signs before it happens. This crisis disease management mind set has brought about many pharmaceutical drugs which treat this level of disease only. Many of these drugs are not without side effects. These side effects, in turn, warrant prescription of other drugs to mask these new symptoms and it just becomes a vicious cycle.
Dr. Talebi’s practice and area of expertise is focused on preventing disease before it gets to crisis level.
